of the Advisory Board, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) in the frame of the Erudition Scholarship Programme (MTA HTMTÖ) for the Hungarians living in the neighbouring countries
in 2009
The Scientific Scholarship Advisory Board of MTA calls the Hungarians living in the neighbouring countries for applying in the following categories in 2009:

The final outlook of the research (essays, books, manuscripts, research reports, etc), its parameters, and the deadline to submit the text forms of the research reports are described in the individual contracts. The postal deadline of the research and its report is 30. June 2010.
In case the researcher or the team had previously been supported by MTA for other research in 2008, the next (2009) allocation may only be made after the positive evaluation of the former (2008) research report. If it does not happen until 31. December 2009, the 2009 research contract is void.
Category A: MTA Research application for PhD students of non Hungarian citizenship
Possible candidates are:
PhD students of non Hungarian citizenship who have been accepted at a university either in Hungary or in any of the neighbouring countries, or passed their final graduation exam (absolutorium), and those who prepare their PhD thesis in Hungarian language, or process a Hungarian topic.
The applications may be submitted in any fields of science.
Attachments of the application:
1. The research plan detailing the monthly schedule of the tasks as well as the degree of completion of the PhD thesis;
2. Data sheet (A1 form to be downloaded);
3. Declaration of Responsibility of the supervisor (to be downloaded);
4. As for the topics of natural sciences, providing certain parts of the planned tasks need performing in any research laboratories in Hungary, the declaration of hosting of the relevant institution is to be enclosed (to be downloaded).
The monthly amount of research support is HUF 50,000 paid in two instalments (the first part is due the time when the application is accepted, the second part is due when the complete work is submitted, this means within 30 days after both the final report and the complete research is submitted.)
Period of research: max. 6 months
Category B: MTA Individual research for non public body members
Possible candidates are:
Non-MTA Public Body members.
The applications may be submitted in any fields of science.
To be attached:
- Detailed introduction of the research programme;
- Data sheet ( B1 form to be downloaded);
- Professional curriculum vitae;
- Verification of Public Body membership
The amount of the research support:
The research support will be provided in the course of the individual application is a lump sum, limited to maximum HUF 400,000, which is granted in two parts, (the first part is due the time when the application is accepted, the second part is due when the complete work is submitted, this means within 30 days after both the final report and the complete research is submitted.)
Category C: MTA Team or Institutional Research application relating programmes beyond the Hungarian borders
Possible candidates are:
Work teams lead by a member of the MTA Public Body
The applications may be submitted in any fields of science.
Preferred topics are the ones relating to Hungarian minority communities, as well as programmes connecting to an institution, a research institution, a professorship, or to those in possession of retention.

1. Research programme describing the detailed tasks planned during the research period. In case the candidate is a PhD student, the degree of completion of the PhD thesis;
2. Data sheet (A1 form to be downloaded);
3. A Declaration of Responsibility of the supervisor (to be downloaded);
4. As for the topics of natural sciences, providing certain parts of the planned tasks need performing in any research laboratories in Hungary, the declaration of hosting of the relevant institution is to be enclosed (to be downloaded).
The amount of the research support is limited to maximum HUF 2 000,000 each.
